Hargeisa (SD) – The government of Somaliland is outraged by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) statement on its Twitter account referring to Borama is a city in Somalia.
An statement from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that UNICEF’s statement that Borama was part of Somalia was a violation of UN-Somaliland co-operation.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in a released statement on the community in Borama receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, described it as a city in Somalia.
Somaliland also said UNICEF’s statement undermined its credibility and could not accept it, threatening action against the agency.
After the threat from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) later removed the statement from its Twitter account.
