SSC-Khatumo warns against the Recognition of Somaliland

LAS ANOD (SD) – The leader of SSC-Khatumo, Abdulkadir Firdhiye, has sent a direct message to the international community, strongly opposing the recognition of Somaliland. In recent years, the administration in Hargeisa has been actively seeking international recognition.

In his statement, Firdhiye argued that Somaliland does not deserve recognition, describing it as a single-clan entity dominated by the Isaaq clan. He emphasized that Somaliland does not meet the criteria for statehood.

“Somaliland is a secessionist entity dominated by the Isaaq clan and does not govern SSC and Maakhir, which are aligned with the Federal Government of Somalia. I urge the international community to respect the unity of Somalia, which is essential for the stability of the Horn of Africa,” said the SSC-Khaatumo leader. He also warned that if Somaliland is recognized, it could lead to a united Somali front opposing Somaliland, thereby threatening regional stability.

Firdhiye also accused the Somaliland administration of supporting terrorist groups like Al-Shabaab and Daesh, although he did not provide concrete evidence to substantiate these claims.

SSC-Khaatumo, currently a local administration governing areas previously controlled by Somaliland, including Laascaanood, is in direct opposition to Somaliland, which still claims sovereignty over these territories. This statement comes amid recent reports suggesting that the United States might become the first country to recognize Somaliland, although there has been no official confirmation from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
