Mogadishu (SD) – Grim details are emerging from a suicide bombing tonight at the Gelato Divino restaurant on Mogadishu airport road.

Reports say that seven people were killed in the blast, most of them prominent Mogadishu youths, and a number of others were injured in the blast.

A man wearing a suicide vest blew himself up outside the restaurant where many young people were sitting.

Witnesses said the bomber was on foot and detonated himself in the restaurant sitting section, according to eye witnesses.

Explosions in Mogadishu have lately been linked to a series of suicide bombings, with a similar incident a few days ago at a restaurant near the Gen. Kariye Police Academy, were a bomber killed at least five innocent people.

Somalia’s Federal Government tonight released statement of condolence regarding the bombing.

“I send my deepest condolences to the families of the victims of tonight’s terrorist attack on a restaurant in Mogadishu. May God have mercy on the dead and heal the wounded. We must unite in the fight against terrorism”. Said PM Mohamed Hussein Roble.
