Mogadishu (SD) – A suicide bomber blew himself up last night at the Waberi district police station on Maka Al Mukarama Road.

According to reports, the blast caused death and injuries, with the attacked police station on the main Makkah al-Mukarama road.

Ahmed Abdullahi Bashane Aloley, the commander of Waberi police station, was reportedly killed in the blast.

“A suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the Waberi District Police Station this evening. The casualties of the blast are the confirmed death toll of 6 people and the loss of life and 6 injuries”. Somali police spokesman Sadiq Adan Ali said of the blast.

Adding “May God have mercy on Major Ahmed Abdullahi Bashane (Station Commander), Major Abdibasid Mohamud Agey (former Deputy Commander of Waliyow Ade Division) 3 soldiers and a neighbor.”

The station is very close to the busy intersection of Dabka, and the casualties are likely to be more than what police have confirmed, as the station is too close to Maka Al-Mukarama road.
