MOGADISHU-A suicide bomber blew himself up at the El-gaab intersection in Hamar-Jajab district in Banadir region today.

According to reports, the blast targeted a vehicle carrying some of the delegates attending the ongoing northern parliamentary elections in Mogadishu.

Abdifatah Hassan, a police officer in Mogadishu stated, “We believe the suicide bomber wanted to target vehicles carrying voters, but it seems that they missed their target.”

A man wearing a suicide vest was behind the blast, which exploded at a police checkpoint.

There are casualties and injuries, but the exact number is still unknown.

The blast took place at a day when the El-Gaab intersection was closed, and the Mogadishu elections were taking place.
