Mandhera January 17, 2023 (SD) -A woman was killed and eight others were injured after members of the Al-Shabaab group attacked a vehicle carrying civilians on the road between Banisa and Mandheera in the Mandheera region.

The vehicle was carrying 12 people when it was attacked, according to the police and survivors of the attack.

The local community reported that the attackers opened fire on the vehicle as it passed through the villages of Sarman and Olla, which are near the city of Mandheera and close to the border between Kenya and Somalia.

The area is known to be frequented by militant groups. The authorities have reported that they suspect further attacks may be planned and have increased security measures in the area.

The police are searching for the attackers who fled the scene. The injured are being treated in a hospital in Mandheera.
