Taiwan Reportedly Set to Sign Military Agreement with Somaliland Mid-Year

TAIPEI (SD) – Taiwan is reportedly preparing to sign a military agreement with Somaliland mid-year. This agreement would allow Somaliland to receive Taiwanese military equipment, including naval assets.

The report added that this equipment would replace Taiwan’s own recently upgraded military hardware.

Somaliland has already sent several military trainees to Taiwan.

China, one of the world’s most powerful nations economically, politically, and militarily, has heavily invested in many African countries, including those in the Horn of Africa.

Somaliland and Taiwan claim independence from Somalia and China, respectively, but neither has gained official recognition from the United Nations or the majority of the international community.
