The Electoral Commission appears to be divided over the the firing of colleagues

Mogadishu (SD) – A letter said to be from some Federal and State Election Commissions was posted on social media late yesterday, stating that the commissions had temporarily suspended the elections.

The Federal, Jubaland, Somaliland and Benadir regional commissions said their signatures were forged and did not know about the letter.

The official website of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEC) on Facebook posted the letter, calling it Fake News, and with no additional information.

Some members of the Electoral Commission who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity said that the letter was a forgery, and that it was possible that some members of the commission were behind it.

Election Implementation and the Dispute Resolution Committees are currently at loggerheads over the dismissal of members of the Electoral Disputes Commission.

The sources also say that Villa Somalia is involved in the dispute between these electoral commissions, and Villa Somalia opposes the dismissal of members of the dispute resolution committee.
