Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali Political Parties Forum welcomed the outcome of the talks between the federal government and the regional governments, on the country’s election process.
A nine-point statement from the forum said, “The forum has always called on the leaders of the conference to ensure that the country’s transitional situation is always managed in a way that moves forward in rebuilding the country’s governance.”
A statement called for the immediate appointment of various electoral commissions and for the implementation of the agreed provisions, to avoid further delays of elections.
The Forum also called for the formation of a Dispute Resolution Committee, and for international observers to be represented by members representing the northern regions of Somalia.
The Somali National Parties Forum has called on the House of Representatives to be part of the country’s political agreement, finalizing the consensus process for the 2020-2021 elections.
