Who is Somalia’s new PM?

Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali Federal President Mohamed Farmajo last night appointed a virtual unknown in politics as the country’s next prime minister.

The newly Appointed PM Mohamed Hussein Roble, worked extensively with international organizations, particularly the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Mohamed Hussein Roble was born in October 1963 in Hobyo, Mudug region.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Somali National University. He also holds a master’s degree from Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure at KTH University (Stockholm High School of Technology) in Stockholm, Sweden.

In addition to being a Somali, he also holds Swedish citizenship. He is a married and father with five children.

Mohamed Hussein Roble, has been working for the International Labor Organization (ILO) for 14 years, holding senior positions including at the Somali leadership level.

The new prime minister was appointed hours after an agreement on the country’s election issues and is now expected of him to form a government that will implement the agreement.
