Garowe (SD) – Puntland’s political parties Mustaqbal, Ifiye and the Youth political party have filed a joint complaint against the Puntland Transitional Electoral Commission with Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and the international community.

The three political associations described the partial mock election in Puntland as unconstitutional and only done to the satisfaction of donors.

They called for speedy completion of the Supreme Court, the abolition of the closed list system for local council elections and for the Deni administration to deliver on its promises to the registered political parties.

The three political associations proposed a conference for all political parties to discuss and address the lack of transparency in the Puntland Transitional Electoral Commission.

The three political organizations see the TPEC election as a test case in which the associations will not win, because organizations that didn’t participate in all districts under Puntland’s control will not have political legitimacy.
