U.S. Embassy in Mogadishu condemns ISIS attack on Puntland Defense Forces

MOGADISHU (SD) – The U.S. government issued a brief statement strongly condemning last Tuesday’s ISIS attack on Puntland Defense Forces, who were conducting an anti-terror operation in the Al Miskad mountains.

In a short message from the U.S. Embassy in Mogadishu, the attack was strongly denounced. The embassy emphasized that the ISIS militants suffered a heavy defeat, with over 100 fighters killed.

“We condemn the ISIS terrorist attack on Puntland Defense Forces on February 11,” the statement read. It was published on the U.S. Embassy’s official account on X (formerly Twitter).

The U.S. government also extended condolences to the families of the brave Puntland soldiers who were martyred in the attack.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the heroic Puntland Defense Forces soldiers who lost their lives in this attack,” the embassy’s condolence message stated.
