HARGESIA(SD) – The Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated food aid to the Government of the Republic of Somaliland, the aid was received today by the National Drought Committee, at the Egal Airport in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
Somaliland’s Minister of Health, Hassan Mohamed Gafaadi and a member of the National Drought Committee, said that the UAE was the first government to respond to the Somaliland government’s call for immediate drought relief for the country.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Disaster Preparedness and Food Security Agency, Mr. Faisal Jama, thanked the UAE government, for responding to the plea from the Somali government regarding the droughts in Somaliland.
Mr. Mustafe Abdillahi Hashi, Director of the National Food and Drug Administration, said that there is excellent cooperation between the Republic of Somaliland and the government of the United Arab Emirates.
Mr. Omar-Sayid, Director General of the Somaliland Civil Aviation Authority, spoke about the deep relationship between the UAE and the Republic of Somaliland and said that the cooperation was fruitful and insightful.
For his part, the UAE Ambassador to Somaliland Abdalle Naqdi said that the donation is a preliminary but that they will deliver other donations from the UAE government to Somaliland’s government.
