UCID Chairman’s Immunity revoked by Parliament

Hargeisa (SD) -Somaliland House of Representative’ permanent committee in an unusual move today announced today it removed UCID party leader Feisal Ali Warabe’s immunity.

The committee accused the leader of violating a constitutional provision on the country’s unity.

Faisal Ali Warabe recently accused politicians from Sool and Sanag regions of Somaliland of being an obstacle to democracy, upsetting the speaker of the House of representatives.

The committee accused Feisal Ali Warabe of disrespecting Somaliland’s constitution, and informed the party’s registration committee to remove his immunity as to prosecute him.

Faisal Ali Warabe, the chairman of the opposition party UCID, has responded to allegations made by the Somaliland House of Representatives, calling the allegations invalid, and argued that he had not violated any constitutional provision.

The UCID Chairman who spoke to the media in Hargeisa today accused the lawmakers of seeking yet another illegal extension.

Faisal Ali Warabe is known for his wild accusations and the Somaliland public seem to be desensitised to his political antics.
