UK Embassy addressed fed’s ongoing political dispute with Deni

MOGADISHU (SD) – The British Embassy in Somalia has disclosed specific points discussed during yesterday’s meeting between British Ambassador Michael Nithavrianakis, and Puntland President Said Deni in Garowe.

The meeting at the Puntland Presidential Palace in Garowe addressed the ongoing political differences between President Hassan Sheikh and Said Deni, which have escalated recently.

The Ambassador emphasized to Deni the importance of dialogue, urging both sides to engage in discussions to resolve the existing tensions, as international representatives have been urging both parties to come to the negotiating table to find a solution to the escalating crisis.

Cooperation or partnership between Puntland and the UK, since Puntland previously requested significant involvement from the international community.

Puntland, which opposes the amendment of the constitution, has severed ties with the federal government of Somalia, saying it has lost confidence in the federal government.
