US Senate approves new Ambassador to Somalia

WASHINGTON (SD) – The US Senate has overwhelmingly confirmed Richard H. Riley as the new US Ambassador to Somalia.

The confirmation came after President Joe Biden nominated Richard H. Riley to be the next US Ambassador to Somalia back in March of this year.

Ambassador Richard will replace the outgoing US Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Larry André, who has held the position since January 2022.

Ambassador Richard H. Riley is a seasoned diplomat with experience working in several countries, including the UK, Russia, Canada, Pakistan, China, Jamaica, Yemen, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Moreover, Ambassador Richard H. Riley IV, the incoming US Ambassador to Somalia, holds multiple degrees. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Georgia, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and an MS from the National War College.
