Mogadishu (SD) – The United States, Britain and Norway said in a statement set conditions on payment of Somalia’s Federal Parliamentary election expenses, previously promised by the International Community.
The statement from these three countries were addressed to Somali Prime Minister, Heads of State, Federal and State Electoral Commissions, informing them that the first set of funding be provided when the elections appear to be proceeding smoothly, starting with the three states and Candidate’s fees are deposited in the Central Bank.
The second portion of the budget is said to be paid when two-thirds of the parliamentary elections are completed.
The announcement comes as the international community is frustrated with the slow pace of Somalia’s parliamentary elections.
