MOGADISHU (SD)-The Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, and the Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, who is also the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), James Swan, held a meeting in Mogadishu to discuss the progress made in the fight against Al-Shabaab (AS), the reduction of ATMIS (African Union Transition Mission in Somalia) troops, and security reforms.
Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed provided an update on the significant progress achieved by the Somali government forces and the Somali people in liberating the country from Al-Shabaab. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening UNSOM’s support at this critical time.
James Swan, the Head of UNSOM, praised the Somali government and people for their dedicated and selfless efforts to rid their country of Al-Shabaab.
