Mogadishu (SD) – The US Embassy in Somalia has criticizing Somaliland’s decision to shutting down Universal and Star TV stations in Hargeisa.
The statement was posted on the embassy’s twitter account and didn’t include any reference to a specific incident, leading to speculations.
However the tweet came as Somaliland’s minister of information Suleiman Kore recently told local media that Universal TV had rejected to broadcast President Muse Bihi’s speech at the country’s 26 June independent celebrations in Hargeisa.
The Minister of Information also declined to disclose Star TV was shut down by the government.
