MOGADISHU (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a speech at a ceremony marking the signing of the agreement on the training of Somali forces, jointly undertaken by the governments of Somalia and the United States.
The President emphasized that the agreement strengthens the support and development of the Somali forces, particularly the Danab brigade, with training facilities and military bases established in the cities of Mogadishu, Kismayo, Baidoa, Jowhar, and Dhusamareb.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed gratitude to the United States for its role in supporting the training of the elite Danab forces and overall security agencies in Somalia, highlighting their crucial role in combating terrorism and stabilizing conflict-affected areas.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs of the United States, Ms. Bonnie Denise Jenkins.
