Water resource Forum opens in Mogadishu

Mogadishu March 01, 2023 (SD) -Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Saleh Ahmed Jama, opened a forum on the development of Somalia’s water resources.

The forum, attended by government officials and members of the international community, focused on the importance of developing Somalia’s water resources to promote the use of rainwater and water scarcity, as well as providing clean drinking water for communities.

Saleh Jama emphasized that the country’s water resources are vital to the survival of its people and that the government is committed to improving the availability of clean water.

He also noted that the government is working to address the issue of water scarcity caused by the recent destruction of water wells by extremist groups.

The forum was attended by officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Regional State Governments, Aid Agencies, IGAD, and the United Nations.
