HARGEISA (SD) – Zambian delegation has today arrived in Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland to hold talks with Somaliland authorities over their bilateral relations.
The delegation led by Zambian Minister of Justice Mr. Gavin Lubinda was received by Somaliland’s acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Liban Yusuf Osman and other Somaliland government officials.
Lubinda and other Zambian officials are expected to meet with president Muse Bihi Abdi in the forthcoming hours.
The development barely four months after Hargeisa received Malawian delegation including legislators and government officials.
Somaliland is expected to hold its parliamentary and local district elections this year after they (elections) were delayed several times. The last parliamentary election was held in 2005.
Located in the north of what used to be Somalia, Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in May 1991 but has since not garnered internal support for recognition.
Taiwan and Somaliland announced recently agreed to establish diplomatic relations and went ahead to appoint representatives to their respective territories.
